Abstract: 

POLYMERS WERE SYNTHESIZED FROM CROSSLINKED POLY (ACRYLIC ACID) AND VINYL COMPOUNDS WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AS THE SOURCE OF AN OXIDIZING AGENT AND TRIMETHYLOLPROPANE TRIACRYLATE (TMPTA) AS THE TRI-FUNCTIONAL CROSSLINKER. THE POLYMERIZATION REACTION WAS CARRIED OUT IN A HETROPHASIC ORGANIC SOLVENT THEN CONTINUED IN WATER AT 70OC. THE SYNTHESIS OF POLYMERS WAS STUDIED WITH VINYL ACETATE. INFRARED ABSORPTION (FTIR) WAS DEMONSTRATED THE GRAFTED REACTIONS PRODUCED POLYMERS WAS SUCCESSFULLY.

THE PURPOSE OF PARTICLE GEL TREATMENT IS TO REDUCE WATER FLOW THROUGH HIGH PERMEABLE CHANNELS WITHOUT DAMAGING OIL PRODUCTION ZONES. IN THIS WORK, PARTICLE GELS WERE SYNTHESIZED FROM ACRYLAMIDE AND N, N’-METHYLENEBISACRYLAMIDE AS MONOMER AND CROSSLINKER, RESPECTIVELY. THE EFFECTS OF REACTANT CONCENTRATIONS ON GELATION TIME AND GEL FRACTION WERE INVESTIGATED. THE CENTRAL COMPOSITE METHOD WAS APPLIED FOR DESIGNING THE EXPERIMENTS AND TO OBTAIN THE EFFECTIVE FACTORS AND TO DEVELOP THE MATHEMATICAL MODELS. ALSO AN OPTIMIZATION ANALYSIS WAS PERFORMED TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMUM VALUES OF PARAMETERS TO MAXIMIZE THE GEL FRACTION AND MINIMIZE THE GELATION TIME. Abstract: 

A mathematical model is developed for the SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in a batch reactor. The model includes the whole process, In POLYMERIZATION part, model includes chain transfer and termination by both combination and disproportionation, Variation in reactant mixture properties is included in the model, The glass and gel effects are included by CCS (Chiu, Carratt and Soong) model, Energy balances are applied to the reactor, oil bath, and temperature sensors. Therefore, the model can attribute to the non-isothermal process. The final model consists of fourteen nonlinear stiff differential equations. Output of the model is monomer conversion, initiation concentration, radical concentration, dead polymer concentration, volume, and reactor and jacket temperatures. Agreement of model prediction and experimental results is very good. This model can be used for optimization and control studies because it includes the whole process.

Abstract: 

IN RECENT DECADES, MUCH ATTENTION HAS BEEN PAID ON POLYMER/CLAY NANOCOMPOSITES AS ADVANCED POLYMERIC MATERIALS. RELATIVELY LOW LOADING OF CLAY HAS BEEN RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS IN MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, THERMAL STABILITY AND FLAME RETARDANCY, MAGNETIC AND ELECTRIC PROPERTIES, GAS PERMEATION, AND ENHANCED MODULUS FOR THE SYNERGISM BETWEEN THE COMPONENTS. POLYMER–SILICATE NANOCOMPOSITES WERE SYNTHESIZED BY LIVING RADICAL POLYMERIZATION AND SOLUTION INTERCALATION METHOD. FIRSTLY, SILANE AGENT WHICH HAS NH2 GROUP WAS PLACED ON CELLULOSE. THEN, NH2 GROUP ONTO CELLULOSE WAS REACTION BY ALPHA PHENYL CHLOROACETYLCHOLORIDE TO OBTAINED ATRP MACRO INITIATOR. THE FINAL STAGE, DIETHYL (ACRYLOYLOXY) ETHYLTHIOPHOSPHORAMIDATE MONOMER WAS GRAFTED ON CHLORINATED CELLULOSE AND FLAME RESISTANT COTTON WAS PREPARED BY ATRP POLYMERIZATION METHOD. ALSO, MONTMORILLONITE CLAY NANOPARTICLES WAS MODIFIED WITH HEXADECYLTRIMETHYLAMMONIUM CHLORIDE TO IMPROVE THE COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN INORGANIC NANOPARTICLES AND ORGANIC MATRIX WITH SOLUTION PHASE COMBINE METHOD. THE PREPARED MATERIALS WERE CHARACTERIZED BY XRD, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, AND 1HNMR TECHNIQUES. ACRYLAMIDE/BUTYL ACRYLATE (AM/BA) COPOLYMER AND AM/BA/2-ACRYLAMIDO-2-METHYLPROPANE SULFONIC ACID (AM/BA/AMPS) TERPOLYMER WERE SYNTHESIZED IN THE PRESENCE OF A LOW AMOUNT OF HYDROPHOBIC MONOMER, I.E. BA, BY MICELLAR POLYMERIZATION METHOD WHERE MULTI-BLOCK STRUCTURE CAN BE FORMED. CO- AND TERPOLYMER COMPOSITIONS WERE INVESTIGATED BY NMR SPECTROSCOPY. RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES WERE INVESTIGATED BY VISCOSITY MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUE. RESULTS SHOWED THAT VISCOSITY INCREASES BY INCREASING THE POLYMER CONCENTRATION. POLYMER AQUEOUS SOLUTION SHOWED A SHEAR THINNING BEHAVIOR. IT WAS FOUND THAT VISCOSITY OF THE AQUEOUS SOLUTION CAN SIGNIFICANTLY BE AFFECTED BY THE POLYMER MICROSTRUCTURE.

Abstract: 

An ordered mesoporous material, such as SBA-15 was considered as a promising reinforcement agent for polymeric materials due to its large surface area and uniform pore structure. In this paper, poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/SBA-15 composites were prepared by in situ free-radical SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION of MMA in the presence of SBA-15. The effects of SBA-15 content on SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION and the properties of the final polymer composite were investigated. The PMMA molecular weight and its distribution in PMMA/SBA-15 composites were determined by gel permeation chromatography. Fourier-transform infrared spectra, X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimeter and dynamic mechanical analysis were used to characterize the structure and properties of the composites. The morphology of the composites was observed by scanning electric microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that the monomer conversion dropped off, but the polymer average molecular weight increased upon the introduction of SBA-15 into SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION process. When compared with pure PMMA, the storage modulus of the composites was improved and the highest improvement was acquired at 1 wt% of SBA-15, based on the monomer feed content. The glass transition temperatures of the composites were increased slightly. TGA results confirmed that the thermal stability of the composite was not influenced much and a higher degree of terminal vinyl groups was formed in the product of POLYMERIZATION. SEM and TEM images indicated that SBA-15 particles were incorporated into the polymer matrix.

Abstract: 

As we know oxygen is one of the main inhibitors of POLYMERIZATION of vinyl acetate. Therefore, nitrogen is used in order to make sure of system's high purity. To maintain purity it is necessary to find out the rate of the oxy-gen SOLUTION in POLYMERIZATION system under different conditions of POLYMERIZATION. It is concluded that incoming nitrogen to the system would remove the oxygen from the system and on the other hand the increase in temperatures a great help. The time length for this process is evaluated in POLYMERIZATION system at the same time.

Abstract: 

AcoPolymer of styrene and methyl styrene was synthesized by nitroxide-mediated "living" free radical POLYMERIZATION (NMP). N-Bromosuccinimide was used as a brominating agent to obtain a copolymer with bromine as its end group. This brominated copolymer was used as macro initiators for atom transfer radical POLYMERIZATION (ATRP). Chemical modification of the clay and transformation of this inorganic material to an organophilic clay was carried out by cation exchange reaction between the clay and hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride salt in deionized water by mechanical stirring. Preparation of nanocomposite was carried out by SOLUTION intercalation method. The structures of the terpolymer and other compounds were investigated by IHNMR, GPC, FTIR, SEM, TEM and XRD methods and their thermal stability was examined by TGA analyses.
